My personal opinion about this radio is that it was manufactured without reservations, all materials used are high quality and not cheap plastic. It is a very heavy rig, all knobs and buttoms are well constructed and conveniently placed for you.
Initially I thought the receiver in this radio was its greatest feature due to the low noise, excellent filters and sensitivity. Best I ever heard! But the transmitter also excels receiving great audio reports and strong signal reports using only the 200 watt output.

Great Rig - Was ahead of its time! Time Owned: more than 12 months. When I received my FT-1000MP MK5 Field, I turned it on and thought I forgot to hook up the antenna coax - the receiver noise floor was that low compared to my previous rig (which shall go unnamed).
