Yep - bought a cheap 'repair kit' from eBay which came with a few screws, washers, thermal paste and instructions (not particularly good ones). Opened it up, removed the x-clamps. cleaned the CPU, GPU and heatsinks, reapplied thermal paste, and replaced the clamps with the screws and washers from the kit.

They replaced it for free, and not only did I get it for free with an extended 3 year warranty, they sent me a new one four days after I sent off my broken one. I don't see why people have problems with Microsoft's customer service, their service has always been spectacular for me.
8 mar 2024 · If you are still under warranty, Microsoft will replace or repair your failed console. You may have to pay shipping or additional fees depending on the details of your warranty. If you are out of warranty, you can pay Microsoft a fee to repair the console.
