After a bit of testing, it turns out the problem appears when I connect the device to a different usb port than the one I installed it in. If I had to guess, it's probably due to some compatibility issue between new hardware (USB 3.0 docks on my pc) and old unsupported hardware and firmware.

9 maj 2021 · Basically, the issue is that when I plug it in to my PC, Windows says "The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it." And when I go check in the Device Manager, I find a device called "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)".
