I just tested your code in my virtualbox test-vm running opensuse 11.1 with python-wxGTK 2.8.9.1 from packman - and it segfaults. After trying with Windows that doesn't surprise me any more: this seems to be a Python 2.6 problem.

easy installation is a must. In windows and mac there is no problem, but in linux, you need to compile wx2.9. So, I've started to use checkinstall instead of just make install, with the benefit that it creates a .deb package easily installable.
