easy installation is a must. In windows and mac there is no problem, but in linux, you need to compile wx2.9. So, I've started to use checkinstall instead of just make install, with the benefit that it creates a .deb package easily installable. So I got wxPython2.8-2.8.9.1-1.src.rpm from the wxPython website and tried to build a rpm from that: rpmbuild --rebuild --define ‘pyver 2.6’ wxPython2.8-2.8.9.1-1.src.rpm That ended with this error message:
8 lut 2012 · mkdir wxpython-extract; cd wxpython-extract; rpm2cpio ../wxPython2.8-2.8.12.1-1.src.rpm | cpio -id will extract it all locally. You could also always just install the SRPM which would puts its files into the RPM build/spec file locations as specified by your rpm configuration (I believe).
8 lut 2024 · It failed because of a wheel problem for wxPython. I then tried to build wxPython on Fedora 39 because the wheel doesn’t exist for F39 so far, only F38. I followed this guide here: Building wxPython for Linux via Pip | wxPython And I installed all these packages with these commands: sudo dnf install python3.9 sudo dnf install python3-devtools ...
After trying with Windows that doesn't surprise me any more: this seems to be a Python 2.6 problem. I had read the posts in the Dabo list regarding wxPython and Python 2.6, but after seeing the wxPython installer package for that version I thought it should work.
Follow the instructions on that page to download and install Python. Note that PythonCard uses some of the XML modules from the standard library. Some Linux distributions (in particular SuSE) ship Python in a number of RPMs. Make sure you have installed the python-xml RPM before continuing.
