28 sty 2015 · The reverse gear in our CR-V sounds like it's straight-cut. Or, at least it makes the same noise as a manual transmission does in reverse. Our MDX's reverse gear is as quiet as the forward gears, so I assume that it's cut the same as them.

You can buy straight cut gears for any popular manual transmission. You can also buy a sequential shift box for them. Nether one is recommended for the streets due to short service life.
29 sie 2005 · The straight cut gears aren't that much stronger than the helical (thicker tooth profile vs. larger contact area pretty much evens it out) but the straights are a lot louder. '03 WRX '01 2.5RS
