Worm tooth dimensions, such as addendum, dedendum, pressure angle, etc., follow the same standards as those for spur and helical gears. The standard values apply to the central section of the mesh. To measure the pressure angle of a worm gear, you need to use a gear inspection machine or a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) that can accurately measure the angle between the gear teeth and the worm.
Axial pressure angle is entered for the ZA type worm, while normal pressure angle is entered for other types (ZN,ZI,ZK,ZH). Pressure angle is selected from 15º to 30º. The value of 20º is commonly used.
