Public debt compares the cumulative total of all government borrowings less repayments that are denominated in a country's home currency. Public debt should not be confused with external debt.

19 mar 2024 · The database covers 202 countries over the period 1990-2022, and includes 30 indicators of fiscal space grouped into four categories: government debt sustainability, balance sheet composition, external and private sector debt, and market access.
Data are shown for low- and middle-income countries that report public and publicly guaranteed external debt to the World Bank’s Debtor Reporting System (DRS). The tables also include key debt ratios and the composition of external debt stocks and flows for each country.
