A Windows product key is a 25-character code used to activate Windows. It looks like this: PRODUCT KEY: XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX. Locate your product key for Windows 10 or Windows 11.
Is there a way to find out the activation key for the currently installed instance? Control Panels -> System shows registered to, with a registration number, but it doesn't look like an installation key (i.e. it's only digits, not alphanumeric)

4 cze 2014 · Your initial assumption was correct: the product key is located in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion. The name of the key is ProductId. Double check it, it should be there.
