1 lis 2014 · What eventually fixed it for me was: 1.) Right Click Computer 2.) Click on Manage 3.) Click on Device Manager 4.) Uninstall the internal network adapter driver. 5.) Restart 6.) let windows reinstall it and it worked. I am guessing it maybe got a corrupt file that deals with the dns service.
1 cze 2012 · I will be getting this computer later today to take the hard drive out and scan for viruses that was to make sure no more critters on running on the disk. I have tried everything about fixing DNS on Windows XP that I can find on the internet but so far, no go.

The solution in this case was a simple reinstall of Windows XP SP3 and everything was then able to resolve DNS correctly.
26 sie 2010 · We have a Dell Dimension 3000 running Windows XP SP1. The computer had a virus and a clean install was performed. That is why it is showing SP1 now as those were the disks. All looks to be OK until trying to connect to Internet (currently it has IE6). Message comes up that Cannot find DNS Server.
