13 sie 2016 · IMHO, the game should be the end product, not a means to tell a story. Any "story" for a game = spit and polish on the game. No matter how intricate your game story is, it ALWAYS gets condensed to a few lines in peoples minds.
10 wrz 2022 · Story telling and animation is the fun part you're supposed to bring to it from your own experience playing games and consuming other media, it's not something you can just acquire magically. If you want to improve your story telling I would suggest reading more books.

I was wondering, if I’m a complete beginner to coding (if scratch doesn’t count 😂) how difficult would it be for me to try learn the basics of GML? What steps should I take to start learning?
