Language is crucial to young children’s development; it is the essential key for learning, for communicating and building relationships with others as well as for enabling chil- dren to make sense of the world around them.
These include your child’s age, first language, their reason for learning English and their teachers. You can help your child learn quickly by giving them lots of opportunities to use English. It helps to have real reasons for using a language, rather than just studying grammar.
Imitate and praise the child’s play skills that are at his level and model and encourage play skills that are slightly above his level. Teach parents how to play with the child at his developmental level. When possible, work on parallel language and play skills together as in the Westby Play Scale.
13 maj 2024 · Reading to young children is an important way to help them build language skills. It exposes them to new words and ways of using language. It also helps them learn general information about the world, which makes it easier for them to learn about new subjects once they get to school.
