Why do we bob our heads to music? Something that I've always observed is that almost everyone either bobs their head or taps their fingers/feet to music. Is this a response learned through observation of others when we are young or is there something else in play here?
Another interpretation of why is that we associate music with dancing. Cultures show music and body movements as something related and acceptable. And that would be like you would associate a blank piece of paper being something you could use for writing/drawing.
It's my opinion that we hear emotions in instrumental music NOT because the music is intrinsically emotional, but because our culture has been socialized to hear certain musical "components" - scales, chords, chord progressions, etc. - to be associated with specific emotions.
