In some places, the foliage is so dense that it gets dark enough for zombies, spiders, and skeletons to crawl out of their lairs and prowl in the daytime.

A dark forest is a forested biome. It is known for its thick, dense leaf canopies that block light sufficiently to allow hostile mobs to spawn during the daytime. Dark forest is almost exactly the same as the regular forest biome, except that the trees generated are different.
Forests are the most common biome in Minecraft, whose climate is temperate, representing seasonal forests with many oak and some birch trees. The forest holds some useful resources for players. There is an abundance of trees that can be harvested for wood.
