We have to test our drives to check if can read the PS3 games, and then put the brand and the model name in this thread, so everyone will know what drives to buy if they want to play it with RPCS3. Those brands like Lite-On, LG, Samsung, ASUS, Plexor, MSI could work specially the BD-RE drives.

The Quick Start guide has a list of compatible drives, some are external like this one. Note though that rpcs3 doesn’t work with disks directly, you use a 3rd party utility to dump then import the dumped files.

23 mar 2008 · Unfortunately it looks like the PS3 optical drives require encrypted firmware in the PS3 to operate, and there hasn't been much widespread success. 25 kwi 2024 · You can also dump PlayStation 3 discs using a Blu-ray drive. However, not all Blu-ray drives will recognize a PS3 disc. Thankfully, the RPCS3 website has a list of compatible Blu-ray drives that can read PS3 discs.
