Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 3 in D major, Op. 29, was written in 1875. He began it at Vladimir Shilovsky's estate at Ussovo on 5 June and finished on 1 August at Verbovka.

Bruckner completed the Third Symphony on 31 December 1873 and had two copy scores made: (a) the Wagner dedication score in D-BHna IICo2 and (b) Mus.Hs. 6033 in the Austrian National Library. The 1873 version was rehearsed by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in June or July 1874, but not accepted for performance.
