I just discovered this show thanks to the catchy intro. I've read some things about the show and I have a question, was Dr Claw's face ever meant to be revealed in the original cartoon or did the creators at least have an idea what they wanted it to look like?

There's literally no evidence to suggest Claw is "the original Inspector Gadget" and it's directly contradicted by several episodes of the show as well as the writer's bible used by writers on the series, at no point was it part of the intended story and there's nothing to suggest it ever was.

Doctor Claw is the unseen leader of MAD. He only shows his arms while he is seated in his chair at his castle or in his MAD Mobile, while the rest of his body remains unseen. He is Inspector Gadget's main enemy and the main villain of the 1983-1986 series. He appears in all of the episodes.
