15 kwi 2013 · Cyrus took over what was left of Assyria in 547 BC and conquered Babylon eight years later, becoming lord of the Jewish exiles. In 538 BC, he decreed that they could go home (Ezra 1:1–4). Amazingly, the Lord took His people back to the Promised Land through a pagan king's edict, not David's line.
1. his anointed—Cyrus is so called as being set apart as king, by God's providence, to fulfil His special purpose. Though kings were not anointed in Persia, the expression is applied to him in reference to the Jewish custom of setting apart kings to the regal office by anointing.

6 lis 2021 · There is an anointing that breaks the Babylonian spirit—it is the Cyrus anointing. It opens doors that allow those in God’s family to access their inheritance and blessing, giving them the authority that they need in this era.
Ezra 1:1 Cyrus, a heathen ruler of a heathen empire (Persia), was “twice named [before his birth] in the book of Isaiah as anointed of God and predestined to conquer kings and fortified places and to set the Jews free from captivity (Isa. 44:28; 45:1-14).
The anointing can only be passed to faithful sons: Elisha couldn’t pass his anointing to his servant Gehazi and he was buried with the fire still in his bones. In 2 Kings 13:20,21, we read how when the dead man touched his bones he came alive.
This is the heart of Second Isaiah’s message of deliverance from bondage: God chooses Cyrus, a foreign ruler, to set God’s people free. The surprise of God’s choice is emphasized by the strong terms used by God to identify Cyrus: “shepherd” (44:28) and “anointed” (45:1).
