First, we identify four distinct conceptualizations of misfit from the literature and then offer an integrative definition of misfit. Second, we provide a multi-level synthesis of the antecedents and outcomes of misfit that highlights the need for more cross-level and multi-level research.

1 lut 2011 · In this paper we address the phenomenon of cultural misfit and its implications for the individual. We define cultural misfit as a situation where individuals hold a set of values and beliefs which are counter to those widely shared in their current cultural environment.
