Yes, indeed on the water shoes, water sandals, even crocs with the strap work well, as long as the soles are not smooth. It's not always a "hot feet" issue, it's a standing in line, doing the stairs without supportive footwear issue. Your knees, back, and feet may thank you for providing the support they need.
There is sprays of water jets along the paths sometimes but don't rely on these to protect you! We bought our water shoes from blizzard beach years ago.. they have a little mickey logo on the top and are still in. good nick today... So don't worry you can buy them in the water parks or walmarts.
