Discussion. Just something that has been on my mind since the season finale. Before the finale I figured it had to do with her being drained of all colour and being controlled by White Diamond. But now that theory doesn't hold up so well anymore.

It is pretty clear that pink cracked Pearl, then she was repaired at the reef but kept the eye due to the underlying trauma.
