It can be found as a tier 2 special drop, a reward from 4-5 star Max Raid Battles, a possible drop from ultimate boss Pokémon, or as a drop from certain wild Pokémon.

I'm trying to get the red orb for my groudon and have spent the past 2 hours fishing for shards to make the orb but haven't got one. I was wondering if there is another way to get it or if this method is outdated
Then that issue shouldn't apply to you (unless your server uses a Data Pack that still has the old fishing files). There's a fixed 15% chance to fish up an item and a 30% chance for that item to be an Omega Shard.
Plain and simple, what methods do you guys use to most efficiently fill up orbs for the legendary birds? i just do it while EV training. Two birds w one stone.
