28 gru 2005 · RCA Red Base 6sn7 = 5692 "RCA brand-red base. The 5692 is a commercial "premium" version of the type 6SN7 tube. This tube was first developed and produced by RCA. They were part of the RCA "Premium Red" line which had red colored bases. Any 5692 with a red base will have been made by RCA regardless of the actual branding on the tube.

IME RCA 5692 red base is one of those tubes that is very dependent on the circuit it's used in. Considering its recent going price, one should try before buying if possible. I know, it's difficult to try these things..
28 lip 2001 · I was told by some very experienced tube nuts that the best 6SN7 is the earliest version of Sylvania VT-231. Is there any truth in it? I thought the RCA red base 5692 is the ultimate driver tube around. Any thought on this issue will be helpful.
This is the flat black plate version of a 5692 6SN7. I believe the tube is unused but it was in a lot of tubes which were exposed to a damp environment. All 5692’s in the lot were in original boxes but this one. it tested 82/82 on my TV7 tester Where 50 is 65%.
