19 lut 2024 · Cuerda seca, which translates from Spanish to “dry cord,” is an ancient technique for creating line decoration on pottery using a mixture of wax resist and a colorant. It is a great way to add definition to drawings because the wax resist keeps the glaze from covering up the lines.
Wax resist prevents glaze from adhering to pots for purposes of firing and decorating. It works by preventing water in the glaze from being absorbed into the bisqueware. The wet glaze remains on the surface, allowing it to be easily removed before firing.
