Well, precisely, from some point forward Arthas had one linear goal: revenge. To see his enemies dead, he would kill civilians by the thousands, lead an army on a suicide campaign, trap his men in a frozen wasteland, and when he was done and his nemesis was destroyed, there was nothing left in him but the Lich King's whispers and a royal's pride.
So, Arthas did feature later in the expac. He was the soul forged into Anduins mourneblade. When The Honor Dads broke his domination, Arthas remnants were floating for a moment before fading. His soul was damaged, fractured, used as fuel, and spent.
I think the path of responsibility is how Arthas' personal choices led him to Frostmourne, and his declaration that he would "pay any price" and willingly took up a cursed blade that he was told would harm his soul. He knew it was a bad idea but was so blinded by vengeance that he took it anyway.
