2 mar 2013 · W231 is the only powder I used for pistol calibers. So far I use them for 380acp, 9mm, 40s&w, 45acp, and 44mag. I do use different charge weights for each caliber with the exception of 40 and 45 which I use the same.
10 gru 2021 · 231 is my go-to powder for range ammo and plinking with 9mm and 45acp. I have recently used 572 for HD ammo. It's a little faster and generates more velocity. 572 is a newer multipurpose powder used primarily for shotshell reloading, but works extremely well for handgun ammo too.
27 cze 2019 · 231 is excellent for the standard 9mm with 125gr or lighter bullets. If your average load is 5gr that's 1,400 rnds per pound of powder. I use Red Dot, but only because I have quite a bit of it to use up.
6 cze 2013 · I use W231 and, in researching for a load, found recommendations from 3.1 to 5.0. Settled on the Hodgdon data (mentioned above) and 3.5gr. Shot both DEWC and the LSWC.
7 paź 2024 · Winchester 231 is a ball powder, one of the most popular handgun propellants in history. It is ideally suited to 38 Special, 45 Auto, and 9mm standard loads. Consistency, clean burning, low flash, and a broad range of applications make this powder a choice for any handgun cartridge loader.
15 paź 2011 · It's my understanding that W231 burns cleaner with hotter loads, but I don't think it's the only powder that behaves the same way. Trail Boss is a really bulky powder that I've been considering trying for light target loads in .357 Magnum cases.
20 lip 2014 · If you're loading for your gun only, you really just need to have your reload function and hit where you aim them. Will 4.0 grains of W231 work? Try it and see if they eject and cycle the next round fully. Repeat until you find what you're looking for.
