In dogs, the initial dosage is 10–15 mg/kg, PO, tid. Higher dosages (30–60 mg/kg, PO, tid-qid) may be necessary but can produce sedation and ataxia. If excessive sedation occurs, a lower dose should be used initially and gradually increased.
