This document provides a step-by-step guide to using the Desautels Faculty of Music recital program template. The formatting information in this guide has been adapted from Drake University’s “Style Guide for Instrumental Recital Programs” and “Style Guide for Vocal programs.”.
Student Recital Programs follow specific text formatting. Please use the following section as a guide to help you correctly format every section of your recital program. The program will follow formal writing style guidelines for music as adopted from D. Kern Holoman’s Writing About Music: A Style Sheet (2008).

Skills assessed in recital include program composition, lyric diction, vocal technique, interpretive skills (song analysis), performance practices (stylistic accuracy), recital etiquette and professionalism.
