20 paź 2023 · A skin tone chart is a visual guide that helps individuals identify their skin tone and undertone more accurately. It’s a handy tool for selecting makeup products, clothing, and hair colors that complement your complexion.
I used Python (opencv and scikitlearn) to approximate the skin tone of Vogue's cover models after downloading images from the Vogue archive. The graphics were coded up in JavaScript, not by me. (Shout out to the lovely folks at The Pudding for this collaboration.) I think this data would be really fun to remix! The csvs are here.

Skin Tones. I n the past nineteen years, there have been 228 issues of Vogue, with a total of 262 female cover models. Let’s look at where these women fall on the lightness spectrum: Darker Shades Lighter Shades. The models’ skin tones are generally lighter, with a few outliers on either end.
Look for shades like tan, golden, caramel, and beige. For neutral undertones, pick a foundation that isn’t overly yellow or pink. Look for shades such as buff, nude, ivory, and praline. From the skin undertone chart, pick the foundation that is closest to your skin tone.
