Compatibility mode is a feature where Windows mimics an earlier version. Doing this can solve some issues with drivers that are incompatible with a newer version of Windows. Locate FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping.exe.

Set the download speed to 0 (this will set the bandwidth speed to Unlimited). Restart E pic Games Launcher. Try downloading your games again.
I'm trying to install Fortnite (which is a 64-bit game) onto my computer. However, I noticed the Epic Games Launcher is installed to the \Program Files (x86) folder, which is reserved for 32-bit games, and the only place I can get it to download to is the \Epic Games folder.
My second pc has a i7 2600 550ti and can run fortnite. Either you upgrade your pc or just upgrade your os to windows 10 for free anyways. Backup your documents etc and upgrade.
The Epic Games Launcher will continue supporting Windows 10 (64-bit), Windows 11, and macOS 10.13 or higher. After June 2024, players will still be able to use the Epic Games Launcher on Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10 (32-bit), just not in an officially supported manner.
