  6. The Ubuntu VM doesn't just have a black screen, it seems to be making no attempt to boot at all. The VM however is running just fine, waiting for Ubuntu to spring to life. I think you should treat this as an Ubuntu corrupted boot sectors problem and run the appropriate boot repair tools.
