Stumpage is the price paid by loggers for the right to harvest standing timber, and it is the best way to estimate the value of your timber. Stumpage prices are different from log or lumber prices because it is reflects price of the trees prior to harvesting, transport, and milling.
The quarterly report, resumed in the first quarter of 2012, lists stumpage prices for various products and species for three state regions. The number of responses are listed for each species and product within each region. It does not report on log, pulpwood, firewood, or fuelwood prices.
