14 maj 2011 · UTF-8, by definition, does not use nor should use the BOM characters. The way Excel reads BOM screws up the advantage of UTF-8 over Unicode, which is backwards compatibility with ASCII. Adding the BOM will make Excel work, but break other proper UTF-8/ASCII file reads. –
13 kwi 2020 · Open Excel, search "Get Data From Text" to open a wizard when you want to open a CSV file. 2. Go to the location of the CSV file, that you want to import. 3. Choose Delimited, set the character encoding to 65001: Unicode (UTF-8) from the dropdown list. 4. Check My data has headers.
19 lis 2010 · Using Excel 2003 I exported in format "Unicode Text (.txt)", then used Notepad++ to replace the TAB with ;, then imported the txt-file into phpmyadmin with default "Character set of the file: utf-8", Format "CSV using LOAD DATA". All encoding was transferred correctly.
To view a huge list of unicode characters in Excel, you can enter the following formula into cell A1. Be prepared to scroll a long ways. Or, to display 30 rows and 20 columns of unicode characters starting at decimal value 129290, use the formula: (0-32 are control characters like newline, tab, etc.)

On Excel 2016 for Mac: first open blank worksheet, next in main menu go to "Data" -> "Get External Data" -> "Import Text File".
