14 kwi 2020 · It is not possible to make a generic PCMCIA drive (slot) with a USB interface to a host computer that would fully comply with the PCMCIA standard. This is because the PCMCIA standard gives much greater access between the CPU and the peripheral device than what USB can give.
23 kwi 2013 · There are several USB-based PCMCIA adapters on the market. A quick google search for external pcmcia usb adapter turns up a number of them. Amtron seems to offer a number of USB-based readers, including this one which looks to support a number of different card types.
21 paź 2016 · Expresscard has now disappeared and new laptops don't include it but the cards are still available. PCMCIA was equivalent to the old ISA and PCI slots in a desktop; Expresscard is equivalent to the PCI-e slot. If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

23 cze 2006 · Can't you just plug a PCMCIA card or memory adapter into a CardBus slot on a notebook computer, transfer your file from USB flash drive to the CardBus device, and then put the PC Card back into your machine? You can get adapters from CardBus to many memory types including CF, etc.
5 lut 2021 · Only about 1 in 3 cf cards work in the PCMCIA slot, it seems. You can get a card that will work plugged into the IDE with an adaptor that works fine, but won't work in a PCMCIA adaptor. And for over 2GB partition in FAT32, you have to have a block size of 4096 or 8192. 512 bytes won't cut it if you are using Windows Format to set it up.
