The festival's schedule varies each year, typically including at least one major opera, a night of scenes from famous operas, performances by several chamber music groups, a symphony, organ and voice recitals, and performances by members of the Orchestra Fellowship Program.
The festival runs during mid-June in Houghton, Marquette, and Iron counties in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The PMMF produces a season of professional classical music. The festival has presented 36 operas, including three commissioned world premieres: The Children of the Keweenaw (2001), The Diaries of Adam and Eve (2007), and Rockland (2011).
