14 kwi 2002 · In my experience with my ft-2900r (same process) just melting the solder is usually enough to get it to stop bridging between the 2 halves. Worst case is that you'll have to get some desoldering braid (cheaply obtained from radio shack) and use it to remove some of the solder on the pad which will remove the bridge.

11 gru 2016 · I replaced it with an FT-7900 which was replaced by an FTM-100. The 1900 is now connected to a power supply in my workshop where I listen to it when I'm working in there. The Maximum power on the FT-7900R is 50 watts.
30 sie 2021 · Most of the solutions (APRS, for example) will require a ham radio license — unless you're willing/able to just use a smartphone? — but in addition to APRS mentioned by OP already, there are some digital modes (Yaesu's C4FM comes to mind) that include location information in transmissions.
