UCSD will partner with AHP (Academic Health Plan) to process our health fee waiver requests. AHP will perform 100% overview of insurance coverage for submitted health fee waiver requests.

The waiver will re-open for Winter and Spring 2024 on the Triton Link: 11/13/23 through 12/29/23. Please contact Financial Aid to see if you qualify for the SHIP grant, 858-534-4480, they may be able to assist you in paying the health fee.
UC SHIP is compliant with the Affordable Care Act requirements and works to complement your care at the Student Health Services right on campus. Students who waive UC SHIP and do not purchase RAFT must pay the full cost of all services at SHS. For more information about UC SHIP and RAFT, contact Student Health Services at (858) 534-2124 or ship3@ucsd.edu .
If you plan to waive SHIP, you must first make sure that your insurance provides coverage for non-emergency medical care within 40 miles of UCSD. This is one of the waiver criterion and will ensure that you have access to necessary medical care in San Diego when you need it.
