Honors are awarded to the top 20% of undergraduate students in the following order: The top 2.5 percent receive Highest Honors, the next 6 percent receive High Honors, and the next 11.5 percent receive Honors.
Honors minimum GPAs for past graduating classes are listed below: Undergraduate Honors at Graduation. Fall 2023-Summer 2024. College of Engineering. College of Creative Studies. College of Letters & Science. Top 2.5%. Highest Honors. 3.98 GPA and above.
When the graduating class is finalized by the Registrar, the appropriate honors level is noted on the diploma and transcript as Honors, or High Honors, or Highest Honors. Questions regarding Honors at Graduation may be emailed to the Registrar's Office at GraduationMatters@sa.ucsb.edu.
Diplomas are printed with the student's legal or lived name on record with the UCSB Office of the Registrar. Degree candidates can view and edit their diploma name in GOLD by selecting the Graduation and Commencement link under the Progress tab.
Honors students are required to complete a minimum of 6 Honors Experiences during their time at UCSB even if they plan to graduate early. Go to the Honors Experience page to explore options. Do 40 hours of Community Service.
