Receiver of Taxes. Welcome to the online Receiver of Taxes office. This office collects taxes for Nassau County, the Town of Hempstead, 99 special districts, and 33 school districts and disburses the monies to school district treasurers and other districts without charge.
The Town of Hempstead does not set your property tax assessment, but we can help to lower your taxes. The town participates in several tax exemption programs. Residents may be eligible to receive a Senior Citizens , Veterans , Disability/Limited Income , STAR , Home Improvement and/or Volunteer Firefighters and Ambulance Personnel exemption.
Payment by credit card will incur a service fee of 2.3% with a minimum of $1.50 for all cards. Payment by electronic check will incur a service fee of $1.50. The fee for personal Visa Debit transactions is $3.95. These fees are not paid to the Town of Hempstead, they are paid to eGov Strategies for processing the transaction.

14 paź 2024 · The Hempstead Town Board plans to raise taxes by 12.1% for next year’s budget. The plan would increase the city’s spending from $522.5 million to just under $550 million. It is the largest tax hike in years and passes the state tax cap for the first time since its implementation in 2011.
