Simply use the filter "Rewarded by a quest in..." when viewing items on wowhead. Example: https://tbc.wowhead.com/items?filter=126;3523;0. If you filter by Rare (blue) only rewards, you have a good overview of quests worth going for. Particularly in Netherstorm and SMV there are some worthwhile quests for some pre-bis gear.
