The New Testament is about God acting in the bringing of His Son and acting to bring about redemption through His Son. And the book of Acts is about God acting through the Apostles and the church to preach the gospel to fulfill the plan. God is continuing His redemptive work.
Historical and Theological Themes. As the first work of church history ever penned, Acts records the initial response to the Great Commission (Matt. 28:19, 20). It provides information on the first 3 decades of the church’s existence—material found nowhere else in the NT.
