I'm having some difficulty getting to Mother, I'm not sure what route I'm supposed to take. I've gotten both knife pieces and have beaten mom but the red door you throw the knife at won't appear. Am I missing something here?

Easiest way to get to mother? Repentance. So I was wondering if this is a reliable method to get the true endings in an easier fashion. Skip the first alternate door and get the deal with the devil on the second normal floor and then go to the alternate path and aquire the first knife piece.
