Acceptable Identification at the TSA Checkpoint. Adult passengers 18 and older must show valid identification at the airport checkpoint in order to travel. Beginning May 7, 2025, if you plan to use your state-issued ID or license to fly within the U.S., make sure it is REAL ID compliant.
Primary identity documents include: Texas driver license or Texas identification card not expired more than 2 years. Proof of citizenship will be required if not previously established. Valid, unexpired U.S. passport book or U.S. passport card.

After May 7, 2025, Texas DL/ID cards would not be accepted for federal identification purposes, and Texas residents would not be able to enter federal facilities or board a domestic flight unless they had another form of identification acceptable for federal purposes, such as a U.S. Passport.
