The band’s core consists of childhood friends Zack Kibodeaux and Greg Essington, who named the group after their coastal hometown highway that runs from the mouth of the Brazos River to Galveston, TX.
Zack Kobideaux is still at Texas State University in spirit even though he graduated in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in vocal performance, co-founded the Blue Water Highway band, and toured across the state, nation, and Europe.
Contrasts loom large for Blue Water Highway. Growing up in various Texas towns, the members took inspiration from traditional and modern country, but also from classic rock bands like Eagles, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
