In half an hour I only got 2 sharks, one in each ocean (I switched because the first one was close to a corruption biome, so who knows). Was it nerfed? Did something change?
Find a shark statue, power it with buttons and wire. This would have taken you 30 seconds of just looking at the shark page on the wiki. Make sure you are not in an area that has lowered spawns due to NPC housing nearby (like if you have the angler and other NPSs on the beach).

battle potions + water candles will help the rare spawn rates a bit, increased chances etc.
They just spawn in the Ocean. Battle Potion and Water Candle help. Make sure to bring a Gills potion too! a Hunter Potion can help you spot them faster and a Flipper Potion can help you move around better.
21 lut 2021 · So I am trying to get a mega shark and I sat with water candle for a whole day and not a single shark spawned. I think went to the bottom of the ocean and somehow I managed to find one. I have created a whole new world to farm them.
