1 mar 2023 · Four of the 22 studies presented evidence to support a significant association between sleep quality and telomere length. Three additional studies identified a positive association between sleep quality in clinical sleep samples but not in control samples.
22 lip 2021 · Key points. Research shows strong links between sleep and telomeres, which are DNA material found within our cells. Sleep appears to have significant influence over the length of telomeres....
As data are gathered only every two years, the potential role of short vs. long term sleep impairment in telomere shortening could not be assessed. Follow-up was only two years, precluding evaluation of longer-term effects of sleep quality on TL.
8 sty 2019 · Sleep quality is a risk factor for age-related diseases, and although the underlying mechanisms remain unclear, the effects of poor sleep quality on telomere length (TL) may play a role.
24 gru 2021 · Better quality of sleep was significantly associated with longer TL. Sleep durations of >7 h/night or ≤5 h/night associated with shorter TL in older adults. Sleep duration in middle-aged adults was not associated with TL: Grieshober et al. 2019: Cross-sectional: 3145 post-menopausal women (EA, AA) from the WHIS: SB: Blood
10 sie 2011 · Our results suggest that sleep duration is positively associated with telomere length, except for those with more than 10-hour sleep. Individuals with long sleep duration (10+ hours) had shortened telomere length due to two possible reasons. Long sleep duration is likely to be an indicator of poor physical condition.
9 sty 2023 · Several sleep parameters present an elevated risk for processes that contribute to cellular aging. Short sleep duration, sleep apnoea, and insomnia are significantly associated with shorter telomeres, a biological marker of cellular aging.
