October 1958, the Cold War is at its peak. A group of young communist nuclear physicists from behind the 'iron curtain', arrive on a special flight to Paris. Led by Professor Popovic, they are swiftly escorted by the police to the renowned experimental clinic, Institute Curie. Medical evaluations reveal that the scientists have been exposed to.

In a twist of fate, they are exposed to a deadly dose of radiation and taken by Yugoslav secret police for treatment at the Institut Curie Hospital in Paris. Led by Professor Georges Mathé, a team of French doctors concludes that the scientists' situation is critical and that their days are numbered.
