Now, a 50cc scooter is the most practical transportation option for use in the city. The mopeds are not designed for speed, instead for efficiency and convenience. If you want to buy a scooter, SYM 50cc scooters will be the best choice for you!
In the 90's SYM commanded 50% of the market of 10 million scooters in Taiwan (the entire population of Taiwan is around 22 Million). Recent figures say 1/3 of the market is with SYM. The rest of the market is shared by Kymco and Yamaha (sorry, no figures were given for the two).
Taiwanese scoots such as sym, kymco, lance and genuine are reasonably priced, good build quality, reliable and hold their value fairly well. Chinese scoots are generally cheap, poor build quality, unreliable and don't hold their value.
