The Electrical Contractors’ Licensing Board is responsible for licensing and regulating electrical contractors. The board meets regularly to consider applications for licensure, to review disciplinary cases, and to conduct informal hearings relating to licensure and discipline.
The Electrical Contractors’ Licensing Board members work with the department in meeting its mission to “License Efficiently. Regulate Fairly.” There are approximately 17,700 licensees pursuant to Chapter 489, Part II, Florida Statutes, and Chapter 61G6, Florida Administrative Code.

State electrical certification examinations administered on behalf of the Electrical Contractors’ Licensing Board are given in two parts: technical/safety and business. DBPR offers electrical examinations in a computer-based testing (CBT) format.
