Now, let’s look at Micah 5:1. This verse is not so easy to interpret. It can be understood in more than one way. The verse says, “Marshall your troops, O city of troops, for a siege is laid against us. They will strike Israel’s ruler on the cheek with a rod.” What is the city of troops? Who is Israel’s ruler who will be struck on the cheek?
1. (Micah 5:1-2) From the lowly and humble in Israel comes a Ruler. Now gather yourself in troops, O daughter of troops; He has laid siege against us; They will strike the judge of Israel with a rod on the cheek. “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me
To complete such a summary would be to draw upon practically every page of the Bible. Not merely the verbal prophecies and the great patriarchal types alone, however, bore the message of the coming Holy One.
